Questions about Adventure Ready
Before you lean on anything here for a trip, these are the answers worth having.
What is this?
Six trail-and-water primers for people heading out on a day hike, a flatwater paddle or a short overnight in the backcountry: packing the ten essentials, staying on track on foot, getting back to shore, reading the sky, managing water and heat, and using public land without leaving a mark. Start with trip planning and the ten essentials if you are new to all of it.
Who wrote it?
An AI system did the drafting. It worked from public material put out by the National Park Service, the National Weather Service, the US Coast Guard and the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and each guide lists the documents it drew on. Nobody with a name stands behind the site, and none is invented.
Has a person checked it?
No. No human editor has gone through these pages, and neither has a wilderness first-aid instructor, a paddling coach, a rescuer or a doctor. What has happened is a machine pass on 2026-10-26: a script opened each cited page once and confirmed that the specific statements the guides lean on are printed there. The sourcing rules spell out the result and its limits. If a guide and the agency's own page ever disagree, go with the agency.
Does it apply where I live?
It is written about US public land and US rules, with Fahrenheit first and Celsius next to it. The habits travel well; the passes, permits and phone numbers do not. Outside the United States, look up the authority that runs the place you are going.
Can it replace a course?
It cannot. Reading will not teach your hands to splint an ankle, right a swamped canoe or take a bearing in fog. If your plans include remote country, cold water or rough weather, learn those skills in person from a qualified teacher before you go. In a US emergency, dial 911.
Is anything for sale?
Nothing at all. There are no trips to book, no gear picks, no brand names, no outfitter partners, no adverts and no affiliate links. No cookies are set and no analytics load. It also skips trail reports and conditions for named places, since those go stale fast and the land manager publishes the current version.
Who used this web address before?
From roughly 2001 to 2018 a travel site presented under the name Land ~ Sea Discovery Group used this address; in later years spam pages turned up on the address. Adventure Ready began in 2026, has no tie to either, and does not carry on, copy or speak for anyone who published here earlier. Nor is it part of any park, agency, outfitter, gear company or outdoor club.
How do I get in touch?
For now there is no way to. You will find no form to fill in, no email address and no telephone number here. If that changes, this answer will be the first thing updated.
What are the pictures?
Line drawings in SVG, made for these pages. None is a photograph, and none depicts a real place, person or product.
